Community Kids Place (CKP) offers out-of-school time programs for Lawrence and Methuen children ages 5-13.

CKP programs provide a fun, nurturing environment where students can learn, make friends, and be active. CKP is open every day after school, and offers full-day programming during summer and school vacations.

At CKP, students can receive homework help and they can participate in art activities, games, field trips, and project-based learning.

CKP is licensed through the Department of Early Education and Care. The program offers affordable tuition and accepts Child Care Financial Assistance through the state of Massachusetts.

Our 21st Century Community Learning Center Program provides enriching, career-oriented, and socially engaging opportunities for students through a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. It supports deeper learning, helps close proficiency and opportunity gaps, increases student engagement, and promotes college and career readiness and success. By partnering with community members and organizations, we offer a wide range of activities that foster growth, creativity, and life skills.

The SAYO (Survey of Academic and Youth Outcomes) is a tool designed to assess the impact of 21st CCLC-funded programs on student learning and development. It consists of three components: SAYO-T, completed by school-day teachers to evaluate students’ academic progress and behavior; SAYO-S, filled out by program staff and academic enrichment providers to assess student engagement and support; and SAYO-Y, a self-assessment completed by youth to reflect on their experiences, sense of competence, and future goals. These surveys work together to provide a well-rounded understanding of how students are benefiting from the program from multiple perspectives.

The SAYO is a valuable tool for identifying program strengths and weaknesses, tracking student success, and shaping programming based on actual needs. By using data-driven insights, the program can align with school-based priorities, ensure continuous improvement, and foster positive youth development. The information gathered helps determine whether goals and objectives are being met and encourages creative, innovative approaches to supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth.
