The mission of The Community Group is to create, manage, and nurture high-quality programs focused on education and related services that support families.

These values are more than just words; they’re the foundation of who we are and what drives our work together.

  • We center our community and celebrate its strengths.
  • We consider families and caregivers in our decisions.
  • We listen to our community to guide our work.
  • We aim to improve lives through education and family support.
  • We use our resources wisely to maximize our impact.
  • We want to extend our impact beyond our local community.
  • We strive to do our best.
  • We follow through on our commitments.
  • We model positive behaviors and think about how our actions affect others.
  • We work as a team to solve problems, and we share our knowledge and skills to help others.
  • We appreciate our colleagues and families.
  • We communicate often, with transparency and kindness.
  • We learn from our mistakes and successes.
  • We seek to understand others’ perspectives and experiences.
  • We give and receive honest feedback to help each other grow.
  • Together, we advocate for diversity, belonging, inclusion and equity.
  • We listen to and recognize how inequities impact our families, children, and staff.
  • We relentlessly pursue justice and fairness for communities affected by inequity.

At the heart of our agency’s mission lies a steadfast commitment to fostering Diversity, Belonging, Equity, and Inclusion (DBEI). We believe that creating an environment where everyone feels respected, valued, and supported not only strengthens our community but also drives our collective success.

Currently all TCG and CDCPS staff are embarking on a multi-year DBEI journey. Together, we’re building a more inclusive and vibrant community. Our DBEI initiatives are designed to empower every member of our agency—staff, students, families, and partners—to thrive in a culture of acceptance and understanding. By embracing diverse perspectives and experiences, we continuously cultivate spaces of belonging that champion equity and encourage meaningful engagement.

“The Community Group started in 1970 with a small group of compassionate, forward-thinking educators. Today, we have grown to an organization that serves the community through multiple programs and are still leading the way in delivering innovative programming in a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment.”
